This piece may be called 'Succulent Study' but I was really investigating color. I worked in white for years, focused on form. Recently I've started adding touches of color, but this is my first piece with more than two colors incorporated. Instead of adding glaze on top of the sculptures, I am mixing ceramic stains into the clay. The difference is that instead of making color choices after the sculpting is complete, I make with colored clay, making decisions as I go. I like this method of working (now), but there was a definite learning curve (and I have dozens of failures as proof)!
Easy to hang on a wall or it can sit on a surface. I clean these with compressed air or a blow dryer, just to keep the dust at bay. Measures 3.75 inches in diameter.
